pvcreate hangs workstation

Hi,

I have just added a Seagate ST15150N SCSI disc to my workstation (SCSI id 4). an ioscan shows it as claimed and a mediainit seems to work.

When I try pvcreate CPU utilisation goes through the roof and my workstation hangs completely, to the point where if I want to use it I have to pull the power cord as the switch on the front no longer works . I know this is ugly but I cannot even telnet to the workstation so I have no choice.

Rob,

One thing I would run is swconfig \* to make sure filesets are configured. Also, what is the latest patch bundle on the system. swlist -l bundle?

Hi Rob,

Other than doing what Eric is suggesting, i would suggest you patch the box with the latest vxfs/LVM patches.

I have just done the swconfig which didn't find anything to config ... worth doing anyhow.

I am just downloading the latest patch bundle fand I will let you know how I go when its done.
