Quorum server

Hi All,

I have setup a quorum server, but....

Here is the output of /var/adm/qs/qs.log

Feb 22 15:07:34:0:Starting quorum server
Feb 22 15:07:34:0:Total allocated: 440612 bytes, used: 20872 bytes, unused 419728 bytes
Feb 22 15:07:34:0:Warning: Unable to determine local domain name for qshost
Feb 22 15:07:34:0:Server is up and waiting for connections at port 1238

My question about the lines
>
Feb 22 14:57:32:0:Total allocated: 440612 bytes, used: 20872 bytes, unused 419728 bytes
Feb 22 14:57:32:0:Warning: Unable to determine local domain name for qshost
<

Is it a problem, unable to determine local domain name for qshost.
The quorum server is started.

Unable to determine local domain name for qshost:

Your DNS isn't setup correctly...

You need to configure /etc/hosts and /etc/resolv.conf and /etc/nsswitch.conf

Add FQDN to /etc/hosts.

Make sure resolv.conf has ip(s) of your DNS servers

nsswitch.conf - something like:

hosts: files [NOTFOUND=CONTINUE] dns

Re: Quorum server

This is just a warning. You probably do not need to worry about this. This message occurs when we look up the host entry for the local host and find it does not contain a domain name. If you are not using a domain name then simply ignore this. If you are it probably mean you do not have the fully qualified domain name as the first entry in hosts or DNS.

e.g. in hosts you should have:

x.x.x.x host.domain.name host

rather than

x.x.x.x host host.domain.name

But as I said, it is a warning and you can probably ignore this.

Re: Quorum server

Hi All

Setting the FQDN as the first enrty in the hosts file solved the problem:
No warning in /var/adm/qs/qs.log

John thx
