Hi Guys,
Attach is some dead process found on my server. can someone please advice if this is critical and is there a way to remove the dead process.

Hmm... I hadn't looked at that option of 'who' before. It appears to me that those are normal though. I have the same exact output on 3 servers that I just checked.

I don't think there's anything to worry about. According to the man page, "who -d" displays all processes that have expired and not been respawned by init. Most processes die at some point and few are respawned by init, so it makes sense to me that you would see some listed. Here's what my perfectly healthy workstation shows:

$ who -d
vxenable . Jan 3 09:06
bcheckrc . Jan 3 09:06
cat . Jan 3 09:06
rm . Jan 3 09:06
cat . Jan 3 09:06
sh . Jan 3 09:06
rc . Jan 3 09:08
sh . Jan 3 09:08

If they are bothering you, you can always trim /etc/utmp, then you won't see them :)

(Of course they may still be using resources)
