Question: when trying to telnet to another server I'm receiving Escape character is '^]'.
What does this mean?

Thanks

Re: Receiving message

This means that you can do a CTRL-] and get to a 'telnet>' prompt. The 'telent>' prompt is a prompt from the telnet daemon itself. If you have a session that hangs for some reason you can do the CTRL-] get to the 'telnet>' prompt and type 'exit' to get out of that session.

Re: Receiving message

The escape character allows you to exit from your telnet session for any reason (i.e. if you typed in the wrong IP or hostname, you forgot the password and cannot login, etc). Press and <]> and you will break out of the "telnet session" and exit by typing "exit" and you will be returned to a system prompt on your local system.

Re: Receiving message

This also means for some reasons you not able to login to your another server?
In case you need to do so check whether you have done you network configuration properly on both sides Another Server and this server.

Re: Receiving message

Sorry,
One clarification:
I thought it is not giving login prompt prompt and simply shows cntrl ] as escape char.
