Remote access solutions
My remote access stinks. Our corporate standard is UUNET's PAL (dialup PPP) but I simply don't get the response time needed to do anything productive.
So, what are some suggestions for remote access? Dialups (that aren't slow as molasses) would be considered but VPN over broadband would be preferred.
Thanks,
Darrell

Re: Remote access solutions
Hi Darrel,
we have 64k (europe ISDN) Dialin with PPP.
This works fine.
We tend to use an NT Terminal Server onsite, so in case you do something critical, and your home PC crashes or looses the line, you simply reconnect and find your session as left.
64 K is fair for Terminal Server access.
Since we use the box only for administration, a 5 user license is all you need.

Re: Remote access solutions
How about vpn using cisco's vpn software on the client side and the cisco vpn hardware? We added a linksys nat firewall on the client side, plus norton antivirus. User authenicates using secureID. I use this from home with a cable modem, and it is very usable - I could never go back to a dialup modem.
