Replace a Root disk in vPar
Hi all.
I have a Rp7410 Server with Vpars installed.
I have 2 Vpars on the server and the root disks of both the Vpars are mirrored. Now one of the Vpar root disk has failed and says Stale extents.
I tried DD command to check bad blocks and it hung for a long time. Suspect a bad blocks in the disk. I need to replace the same. Please let me know the procedure to replace the boot disk.
Is it same as in a non vpar server? Let me know if i need to do anything else.

Re: Replace a Root disk in vPar
It should be the same procedure as for a non VPar server. Here's an excellent guide:

Re: Replace a Root disk in vPar
it is a standard replacment procedure, as long as the Vpar is up, and you have vg configuration file to allow you to do a vgcfgrestore to the new disc.
My house is the bank's, my money the wife's, But my opinions belong to me, not HP!

Re: Replace a Root disk in vPar
Hi,
the process is almost the same, except setting the boot string.
For non vPar it is "hpux /stand/vmunix", for vPars you *must* set "hpux /stand/vpmon".
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
