Replace both internal Disk
Hello Group,
I have to replace both my internal disk from 35Gb to 73Gb. I plan on doing this via ignite recovery tape. The only question I have is there are two other vg's on the internal's vg02 and vg03. My ignite only recovers the vg00 volume group correct? Will I need to rebuild the other two volume group's? Can I use fbackup and what are the commands. The reason for this is to be able to upgrade the OS.
L-Class L1000
HPUX 11.11
ignite Version C.6.1.44
Thanks in Advance,
sp,

Re: Replace both internal Disk
If your Ignite image only gets vg00 (which is a good thing) then you don't even actually have to backup the other two disks (although I assume that you have normal backups). I would do this: Before you start the Ignite recovery, I would pull the disks which house vg02 and vg03 out just a few centimeters. (Don't physically remove them completely unless you have the blank disk modules so that proper air flow will be maintained.) Sliding them out just a little will prevent you from doing something stupid during the recovery. Now after you have vg00 restored, you can simply vgimport the vg02 and vg03 disks and you are done.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.
