Request Information on filesystem(s)

Anyone willing to share;

I'm doing research on filesystems and would appreciate any and all information, pointers, documents, links, etc. that anyone wants to share regarding various filesystems HP-UX utilizes.

In addition if anyone has any first hand experience of losing a file and then recovering it I would be grateful as well.

I'm working on a thesis discussing the varying UNIX filesystems and I'm having some trouble gathering resources. Please feel free to e-mail me direct if you like, mrnasty95@hotmail.com.

kind regards,

Dusty

Re: Request Information on filesystem(s)

HP-UX uses 2 basic filesystems, UFS and VxFS. HP calls them HFS and JFS, respectively. There's lots of documentation on UFS on the 'net, so go to google and look it up. There's also books that cover the subject... look for "design and implementation of BSD UNIX" (I think that's the exact name, but I'm not sure). It discusses the design of the UFS filesystem.

I'm not sure what's available on VxFS, but I would check with Veritas on that one.

Good luck!
