Restoration Error
I am facing aproblem while restoring the files through the tape drive that shows the
CPIO bad magic error,
i am using the restoration in sun Solaris 9.
What are the possible reason or any solution for that error.

What system was the tape written on, and with what options? (And I would say that if it wasn't an HP system, and if it's not an HP tape drive, then the question doesn't belong on this forum.)

Hello,
It seems that cpio under Solaris 9 doesn't understand the format of the archive on tape ("bad magic"). Was the archive created using a different version of cpio, perhaps under a different OS?
I suppose it's also possible, though less likely, that the portion of tape containing the archive's header has become corrupt.
