Re: Root directory size

Ivan,

you just can resize the root directory by reinstalling the OS.

Create an ignite/UX tape and boot from this to resize the root filesystem and to keep your customized environment

Re: Root directory size

To be more accurate, it is possible but not supported - I wouldn't recommend it and don't propose to tell you how to do it.

The important question is why do you want to do this? / is usually static and shouldn't need to be increased: you need to find out what's taking up so much room. The most common things are:

1. a tape device name being incorrectly typed. Check for large files in /dev

2. an application writing to / that would be better writing to a filesystem on a non-OS disc.

Re: Root directory size

I recently increased my root directory size. Refer to HP DocId: VIKBRC00010528.

Before starting, make a recovery tape and do a full backup.

Modify the root volume size variable in the file /var/opt/ignite/recovery/latest/system_cfg

Create a full recovery tape.

Boot the system from recovery tape and let Ignite-UX automatically restore the system files.
