Hi,

Can any one tell me why the root is taking most of the resources in the attached file.
And what are the resources. We are using HP-9000 server. OS HP-UX.

This is the output of Glance.
actuallyroot is spawning hundred of this process for particular time.

Re: Root Resources

Hi Utpal,

I don't see any trouble with the output. They all appear to be system processes. Also Oracle seems to be consuming a bit of system resources.

Re: Root Resources

These are all daemons started by root during the system startup.

What are the processes run by oracle?

Re: Root Resources

Looks like a busy system, perhaps one that has had some recent mods to /etc/inittab concerning respawning.

Is disk i/o really heavy or is it possible the disks are slow due to a scsi termination/cable/cage issue?

Just thinking with my figners(always a bad idea).

Re: Root Resources

Utpal --

The only thing that looks odd to me in the file is the number of smpsched processes.

By default though, you may have up to CPU number of smpsched processes so on a 16 way box, you might see 16 smpsched processes.

Are you seeing a performance problem as well or just a lot of processes ?
