Route the traffic flow through virtual interface!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi,

I am having 1 physical and a virtual interface in it. Now the traffic flow is happening through the physical interface. How can I change it to virtual interface. Any configuration file needs to be changed? or any static routes needs to be changed acordingly. Please let me know if you need any more information on this.... Any help would be appreciated......

it's almost impossible to do that, traffic will always originate from the "main" interface.

If possible, live with it, that's the solution 99% of people chose.

If not - two options:
1. look for netsed. I've seen a few postings of people that used it to "fix" NFS with Serviceguard but I think it's the wrong way to go.
2. Use another physical nic.

applications must be bound to virtual address in order to be 100% sure to use that vip address as source address.

else have the vip in a different network than the physical one.
and have default, or used routes in vip subnet.

if the vip and physical address are in the same subnet, then even routing table manipulation don't give a 100% result.
