for what does this rpc.csmd deamon used for. Will there be any problems if we stop it.

It's part of CDE's callendar manager see man dtcm .... it should only prevent users from using CDE's callendar gui ......

Hi

its the calender manager service daemon stopping it should not cause any problems except when using the CDE calender.

rpc.csmd = Calender Messaging Service

If you do not need it, stop it!

In the middle of 1999, a buffer-overflow was found in this service. Immediately after this discovering, hackers started doing extensive scans for this service, resulting in thousands of hacks against web-sites using Solaris.
