Re: rx2660 installation problem

Hi,

looks like a missing driver anyway. Did you use the latest bundle?
See

http://docs.hp.com/en/5991-8019/ch04s02.html

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: rx2660 installation problem

Hi,

Yes, the June 2007 HW Enablement bundle is installed. I noticed something strange i n the Summary:

"HP Integrity rx2660 server (2 single-core processors) with zx2 chipset"

My rx2660 has dual-core processor.

Is dual-core rx2660 not supported !

Re: rx2660 installation problem

I guess the "what's new" for this box is it can have a single core CPU too and not only dual-cores, see

Hope this helps!

Re: rx2660 installation problem

What kind of server is your ignite? Itanium?

Sounds like partition on RX2660 isn't there...

Is the EFI 500MB, HPUX 100%, and HPSP 400MB partitions setup?

Sounds like the raid driver isn't there ...

If you are doing an interactive install, check the software tab.

Hope this helps!

Re: rx2660 installation problem

Hi,

The ignite server is PA-RISC but, as I have understand, the 11.23 depot contains both PA-RISC and IA64 code and the installer automatic select the correct software (right ?).

Geoff,

"Is the EFI 500MB, HPUX 100%, and HPSP 400MB partitions setup?"

How do I check ? This is our first Itanium box.

Re: rx2660 installation problem

"The SerialSCSI-00 bundle delivers the driver sasd" - this is what you probably need. Check, if this is in your new kernel after the installation (from ignite's software screen).
You could also consider to install your *first* Integrity box from the DVD.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: rx2660 installation problem

Well - if the OS was installed, something like

# idisk /dev/rdisk/disk5

This doc shows how to create from ignite boot:

Re: rx2660 installation problem

Hi,

Probably is something missing in my Ignite depot. I created it from the September 2004 DVD and then applied the Jun 2007 bundles.

I thought that would make the depot up to date but, I can't find any "SerialSCSI-00" bundle.

Is it possible to download or do I need order a new DVD ??

Re: rx2660 installation problem

Try this:

http://h20293.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=SerialSCSI-00

But it depends on the array card model if you need the sas or raid01 driver.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: rx2660 installation problem

Shalom,

I'm in the missing software camp but can't figure out what's missing.

Does this system have the adaptec hardware raid card?

If so the driver for that may be missing, though when I played with an rx3660 it seems the driver was built into the card itself.

Re: rx2660 installation problem

Ugh, just had the same issue a couple of weeks ago with 3 brand new rx2660's, took HP 2+ weeks to figure this one out. You need the Offline Diag and Utilities CD (hopefully your server came with one, if not call your HPCE), appears that there's a firmware upgrade necessary (don't ask how they come from the factory without access to the drives?.?.) I attached the doc on SAS driver install using an mptutil command. Load up the CD then do the following:
Shell> fs0:

fs0:\> cd EFI\HP\TOOLS\IO_CARDS\SAS

fs0:\EFI\HP\TOOLS\IO_CARDS\SAS> mptutil -f sas1068_b0fw.fw -c 0

fs0:\EFI\HP\TOOLS\IO_CARDS\SAS> mptutil -o -g sas1068_bios.rom sas1068_ebc.rom -c 0

after this your device mapping table should show blk2 (internal drive)

Also will need CommonIO bundle and Serial SCSI driver that you can load with the OS, here's a link:
http://h20293.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=CommonIO

Good Luck,
Michelle
