S/W installation problem
Dear All
We are trying to install CheckPoint Firewall-4.1 on HPUX 10.20 -B2000 W/S.
In the installation process it is getting struck, ie after coping all files it is asking for new kernel rebuild, after confirming it is asking whether to start the firewall when the system boots up, ie updating rc2.d , when we are confirming it is hanging.
We are not able to proceed further. One process which is going on loop at the time it hangs is (netstat -in). If I kill that process forcefully hanging is comming out.
If i give netstat -in command also the output is going in loop with lot of numerics.
Note:
1. 3 interface cards with 3 different address
one default gateway is configured.
2. Before starting the S/W installation netstat -in command is giving valid output.
Can anybody suggest something? Is there any known issue?
We reinstalled the O/S also once and tried.
Thanks in advance
Selva

Re: S/W installation problem
Well, this is a difficult problem. In order to eliminate it being an os type problem is your 10.20 workstation using an up-to-date GR patch bundle ? (June/Sep 2000)
Next, have your confirmed with your third party supplier that their product has no known bugs/issues with that version ?
Have you tried installing this product when the HP server is in a reduced runlevel state - ie. reduce the run level to 2, shutdown all unnecessary processes - disable lan cards (do install from console), nfs, diags etc. This should help eliminate these as a possible cause.
Thats about all I can think of trying for now!
Im from Palmerston North, New Zealand, but somehow ended up in London...
