sam error

Dear All
we have a problem on our HP 11i server ,that when we connect to it through telnet and we try to open sam going the printer and plotter selecting physical printer we get the following error message
" UNEXPECTED EXIT: process LANG=C LC_ALL=C /usr/sam/lbin/samx -C -p
5451 bus error"
any help respected

Try using the SAM Terminal User Interface option.

$ sam tui

thanks , but i do not think that it is a telnet problem ,the system seems to be stock on the sam

Get the latest SAM patch for 11.11 (if you are on a upper HP-UX version, do a patch search by keyword for you specific version):

Is that the complete message or was there anything else to it? It looks like there is some missing text.

Check your SAM version:
# swlist -l fileset |grep SAM

Also check for any patches that are not in the right state.
# swlist -l fileset -a state | grep -v configured | sed '/^#/d'

i try from the console to open sam it does not work in the gui mode ,and when i close all the terminal that was exsist on the locked system and try to open a new ones it does not work,what to do in this

Check the SAM log to see if there is more to the error. After the -p should be a sam library, for instance "/usr/sam/lib//lp.ui".

yes it is , and the lp.ui file not found

i found the lp.ui in the /usr/sam/lib/C and i see that it not seems to be log file, and i see that only the printer and plotter options stuck any thing else on the sam work fine ,and the system is very slow

How about installing the latest cumulative SAM patch ? If you look at the doc from HP the advice is to install/reinstall the latest sam patch.

i think that there is no need for new patches , i see that the only problem on the printer nad plotter option, so how to solve it

We do not need to check on lp.ui.

I asked for you to check the SAM log to see if there is more to the error.
