Hello,
Have installed: CIFS A.01.09.05 = Samba 2.2.5
log level=0
Now I think logging has grown, cause of following entry (for many hosts ca. all 2 Minutes):
[2004/02/23 15:16:11, 0, effective(0, 0), real(0, 0)] rpc_client/cli_trust.c:(46)
domain_client_validate: unable to fetch domain sid.
[2004/02/23 15:16:11, 0, effective(0, 0), real(0, 0)] rpc_client/cli_trust.c:(46)
domain_client_validate: unable to fetch domain sid.
[2004/02/23 15:16:11, 0, effective(0, 0), real(0, 0)] rpc_client/cli_trust.c:(246)
2004/02/23 15:16:11 : change_trust_account_password: Failed to change password for domain ECS.
Clients are working well, its only this imense logging.
Has anyone an idea what I could do against this?
thx in advance
Erich

Solution
Hi
Seems that you have no domain.sid file, look for it probably its named machine.sid or servername.sid.
It MUST have the name of the domain
Otherwise leave and rejoin domain

Re: Samba logs
Once that issue is resolved, you can (should) set log level to 1 and limit the logfile's size. You can set this in the smb.conf file.
