Re: Samba Question
Thanks for your kind response.
The links provided are not mentioning anything about printing from HPUX on a windows client. Any ideas are welcome. Need not be only samba.. I am trying to check lpr printing on windows.(Print Services for UNIX). Any one have the procedure for this OR samba.

Syam

Re: Samba Question
Samba Configuration is the same on HP-UX samba client as any other.
Therefore all you need to do is change smb.conf or issue a smbclient or cifsclient command with a user and a password to create print connectivity.
You will most likely need a machine account for the HP-UX system set up on the Windows Primary Domain controller.

Re: Samba Question
I tried configuring lpd printer for hpux.
I gave the follofing command from hpux
#lpstat -t
scheduler is running
system default destination set in default file: DFX
device for DFX: /dev/null
remote to: dfx5000 on 192.168.2.28
DFX accepting requests since Aug 18 13:30
printer DFX now sending DFX-5 to 192.168.2.28. enabled since Aug 18 14:15
fence priority : 0
DFX-5 root priority 0 Aug 18 14:18 on DFX
(standard input) 1326 bytes
After this i gave a print command.
#lpr -d
But it doesnt complete print request instead I get an error :
rlpstat: Connection to 192.168.2.28 is down
But I am ablr to ping to this ip. What could be the problem.

Syam

Re: Samba Question
You will definetely want to take a look at Peter's answer, I know it sound like a lot of reading, but you got to have that configure properly for you to be able to print on the window's printer.

Jaime.

Re: Samba Question
I'd recommend not running the lp utils at the same time as cups.
CUPS:
http://hpux.connect.org.uk/hppd/hpux/Sysadmin/cups-1.0.2/
This is kind of old and I have doubts it will work with a modern CIFS installation.
I think this doc will be more helpful.
