SCSI disk compatibility

Hi,

Is there a list of compatibilities/recommendations for SCSI external disk - ServiceGuard - rp2470 servers?

The external disk's use is intended for cluster lock and shared volumes.

Cristi,

An external disk is limited only by the bus through which it's attached. Is this a disk that you already have or one that you intend to purchase? If you intend to purchase it, your source should be able to recommend something compatible, even if you have to buy a card to connect it to. If not then we need to know what type of disk you have.

htere is no published list available to you to check which discs can be used for cluster lock discs. Your HP Sales rep or VAR should be able to assist you here, or post which disc you wish to use.
Alternatively, rather use the free Quorum server product to do the "locking" rahter than a disc.
check http:/software.hp.com and look in the High Availability section for QS.

First I have tried an IBM disk (new) and I was not able to make it work. It was not seen by the system.

After that I have attached an old HP disk and it was seen immediately by the system, I have managed to configure it in cluster, but I can see SCSI resets every second in syslog. Sometimes it works, sometimes I get even I/O errors. It is very old anyway.

So I decided to purchase a new disk which is compatible with my system(rp2470 server, HPUX 11.0, ServiceGuard A.11.14). But I need advice for this purchase:)

Cristi,

Since you intend to purchase one, you should be able to get this type of advice from the seller. Simply tell them what you intend to use the disk for and how much space you need. They will guide you - that's what they're there for.

As of today, the following SCSI disks are supported with ServiceGuard. Per the information available to me, all may serve as a lock disk.

There are limitations for the use of certain of these disks. Consult your sales representative to learn of these limitations! This list is subject to change without notice!

You may want to consider using a quorum server. Succeeding versions of HP-UX may support fewer versions of SCSI-based disks or SCSI adapters.
