What is the use of the /.security/etc/passwd file in HP-UX ? does any one knows about the
documents available on these issues ?

It is not a standard system dir/file.
1. What is your root's home directory? if it is /, this can be a directory of some sort of software used by root
or...
2. Someone is on your system and collecting passwd file :)

I think he's talking about
/.secure/etc/
Which from what I can tell by the files, that it has to do with system level auditing.
