Re: Serial Heartbeat down

Hi Roberto,

I don't have a serial heartbeat configured, but if you have the same configured and it is down, you should be seeing an entry in the syslog.log file about the same. There is a possiblity you have other /network heartbeat configured and since SG is able to get the heartbeat info from the other source, say network, it is not complaining about the serial heartbeat being down.

Hope this helps.

Re: Serial Heartbeat down

If your serial hbeat link is down, there should be errors logged in syslog.
If you have more than one heartbeat, it is recommended to not use the serial heartbeat connection at all.
From the Managing MC/ServiceGuard manual:

The use of a serial (RS232) heartbeat line is supported only in a two-node cluster configuration. A serial heartbeat line is required in a two-node cluster that has only one heartbeat LAN. If you have at least two heartbeat LANs, or one heartbeat LAN and one standby LAN, a serial (RS232) heartbeat should not be used
