The bastille advantage is it interactively can close down services that are not needed. This actually improves system performance while hardening.
You need an add in for Perl5
I suggest TCP Wrappers to better manage services.
Use ssh Secure Shell to replace rcp remesh rexec and the like protocols and ftp.
Secure shell encrypts authentication and data stream.
