SFTP implementation

Is there a good resource for instructions on installing and setting up SFTP on HP-UX 11.00?
Do I also need to install SSH?

Re: SFTP implementation

I'm not sure of the instruction resource but you definately need ssh for sftp to work at all.
Never preceed any demonstration with anything more predictive than "watch this"

Re: SFTP implementation

Thanks. I found the software and install instructions. One more question. After installing SSH will we have to use SSH for our telnet sessions to the server(s) that it is installed and running on?

Re: SFTP implementation

You don't have to disable telnet. SSH operates over a different port (port 22, by default). But why wouldn't you diasbale it? The whole reason for SSH in the first place is to have a secure login facility where the passwords aren't passed across the network in clear text.

Re: SFTP implementation

I only really need SFTP so I can send files to facilities that are off site.

Thanks for your help.

We may have to start using SSH in the future, but not yet.

Re: SFTP implementation

ssh/sftp/scp

All come in the same package.

Secure Shell.

download it.

swinstall -s /full_path_of_depot \*

Its installed, implemented ready to go.

Its a package deal. Like you get a car with 4 tires.
