sh unpackage problem

I cant seem to unshar a package I recieved. when i
try to sh
to extract the files i get permission denied. The permissions are
set to 777 and chown is root:sys.

There is no . file extension in the package i'm trying to
unpackage just the package name (abc)

Re: sh unpackage problem

Two questions: what directory is the file in (check directory permissions), and is the 'permission denied' message about your access to the 'sh' command?

I guess the last could be ruled out if you can 'sh' another file. Directory permissions can impact what you can do to files inside that directory.

Just a thought... --bmr

Re: sh unpackage problem

The permission denied error i see when i try to sh cmp from root. if it place it in /tmp
I still get the message.

sh does work because i sh another package no problem.

how can i find out what the correct dir is for this package ??

Re: sh unpackage problem

Hi,
Possibilities are it could not be a proper shar package. Do a cksum to verify its a complete shar package.

Re: sh unpackage problem

unset UNIX95 before runninig the sh command.

May not be related, but you'll get checksum errors on 11.00 if you solve your original problem and leave UNIX95=1
