Shutdown virtual partition

Hello all!
In the case a virtual partition hangs, do I have a chance to shutdown (not reset) the hanging partition from another one.
Thanks in advance

Re: Shutdown virtual partition

Hi, Dirk

you can shutdown/restart the hung partion from the first partition (disk where the partition database exist)

#vparstatus
gives you the each virtual partition status

using vparreset a vPar can be sent an emulated hard reset
#vparreset -p -h

The -h causes an emulation of a hard reset. It also has the side effect of overriding the current autoboot setting for that vPar, therefore vPar must be manually restarted using
vparboot
#vparboot -p
This command has to be issued from first partition
never give up

Re: Shutdown virtual partition

Dirk,

No ... You can't do it. Just consider your vpar as an individual system. No login means no shutdown. You can only reset (vparreset -h) or TOC (vparreset -t) to get a dump and analyze the hang state.

Regards.
