Slow boot after mirroring
I mirrored the system (vg00) to another disk.
when I try to boot from the new disk,
the console print :
HARD Booted.
ISL Revision A.00.43 APR 12, 2000
ISL booting hpux
Boot
: disk(0/12/0/0.6.16.0.0.1.3;0)/stand/vmunix
and then the system sleep 10 minutes.
After boot right.
Could you tell me why ?
Thank you very much
Luigi

Re: Slow boot after mirroring
At this point the server loads the kernel and scans the hardware. Dit you add hardware, ore do you have failing hardware?
HTH,

Re: Slow boot after mirroring
Please advise exact mirroring procedures.
Have the latest patches for mirror/UX installed, and what HPUX version you have.

Re: Slow boot after mirroring
All the hpux Servers (with or w/o root disk mirror) sleeps for 5 to 10 minutes after
Boot
: disk(0/12/0/0.6.16.0.0.1.3;0)/stand/vmunix
Than boots.
Do you find any difference between the booting time before and after mirror?
There should not be much difference.

Re: Slow boot after mirroring
What disk are you attempting to boot from ?
Internal or SAN based? By the hardware path it suggests it is not internal ...

Re: Slow boot after mirroring
1) I haven't falling hardware
2) The hpux is 11i with the following patch bundle :
GOLDAPPS11i B.11.11.0312.4 Gold Applications Patches for HP-UX 11i v1, December 2003
GOLDBASE11i B.11.11.0312.4 Gold Base Patches for HP-UX 11i v1, December 2003
3)During the boot from the primary path the system sleep only 1 minute.

Re: Slow boot after mirroring
: disk(0/12/0/0.6.16.0.0.1.3;0)/stand/vmunix) in one minute is not too bad :^)

Re: Slow boot after mirroring
1) I am booting from SAN (EMC Symmetrix)
2) The boot is slow only from the alternate path (mirrored disk - 0/12/0/0.6.16.0.0.1.3)
3) The output fron lvlnboot -v is :
root@hprp01 /> lvlnboot -v
Current path "/dev/dsk/c4t1d3" is an alternate link, skip.
