SNA and SAM problem

I have installed snaplus2 on 2 of my servers, and am having problems configuring it as a . On the first server it went ok, but on the other one it is complaining about the kernel parameters being set wrong.
It says:
ncallout >=nkthread
msgmap <= (msgseg+2)

Theese parameters are set equaly on both servers.(and yes, they are not following the abovementioned rules, but that is not of great importance for me now.. it works with my databases)

I am thinking it might have something to do with the sam patces: on the one that it worked i have the following patch PHCO_23004, and on the one that it fails I have PHCO_25870 and PHSS_25476.

What I want is sam not to bother with these parameters, because they don't have anytning to to with what I am trying to do. I just have to rebuild the kernel because i have to add the following driver/module to get sna to work in client mode: sixr and sixt

Can I get sam not to bother me with this error? or can I manualy do what sam has to do, and then configure sna without having to reboot?

Re: SNA and SAM problem

I see that some words fell out from the beginning in the first sentence, it should be: .... having problems configuring it as a sna client.

Re: SNA and SAM problem

Hi Roger

You are running 11.11 ?

After installing sna you need to configure it into the kernel via sam which requires a reboot. What messages do you have in the sam log ?

Which sna products do you have installed ?
Is the install part of an upgrade ?

On an 11i server i have here

J2720BA R6.11.11.001 SNAplus2 LINK
J2722BA R6.11.11.001 SNAplus2 3270/3179G
J2724BA R6.11.11.001 SNAplus2 API

Re: SNA and SAM problem

Roger,

It sounds like you've already done this, but just to be sure...You do realize that you first install SNAplus2 via swinstall ( can be done through SAM ), then you go into "Networking and Communications" in SAM to do the second step of the install process?

Also - I don't think I've ever installed SNAplus2 without having to hunt down a SNA and/or SAM patch.

Re: SNA and SAM problem

Yes i am runing 11.11.

This is not an upgrade, I am only just now installing SNA on this server. (I have it on lots of other servers)

I have installed these products:
J2720BA R6.11.11.001 SNAplus2 LINK
J2724BA R6.11.11.001 SNAplus2 API

I have installed them with swinstsall.

It is when I do the step in SAM I get the problem.Error: One or more tunable parameters violates an interdependency rule. SAM expects the following expression(s) to be true:
ncallout >= nkthread
msgmap <= (msgseg+2)

I know that I don't follow these rules in my kernel, but I do it on purpose, so what I want is sam not to bother about it(like on the other server i installed it, whitch didn't have the new patch bundles).

Re: SNA and SAM problem

on the "problemserver" I have no SNA stuff in the kernel. But on the one that works I have:
root@dhu-sat1:[~] what /stand/vmunix |grep SNA
]R6.11.11.000 SNAplus2 R6.1 Trace Device Driver in the kernel (64 bit)
]R6.11.11.000 SNAplus2 R6.1 NDLC to DLPI Mapping (64 bit)
]R6.11.11.000 SNAplus2 R6.1 NDLC to DLPI Mapping (64 bit)
]R6.11.11.000 SNAplus2 R6.1 Client Router in the kernel (64 bit)

So this is what i want...
