snmpd
Hello - we are getting a suggestion to disable the snmp daemon on our system in an attempt to lock down security. I was wondering if other products make use if it - I seem to remember openview operations may use it - is that true? Any other services that may be disbled if we turn off this daemon? Thanks...

Re: snmpd
Yes, most of the OpenView products use it. Examples, ITO & NNM are the more well known OV products to use snmp.
You should not have any trouble turning off the snmp daemon if you do not monitor systems via snmp.
