Source: 8 I/O

checking the GSP chassis error log I got an Alert level: 6 = Boot possible, pending failure - action required
Source 8 = I/O
Source Detail: 9 = serial SOURCE ID: 0
Problem Detail: 3 = functional failure
...
Reporting entity: system firmware
---------------------------------
There are four log entries for this error.
We will be rebooting our system next week and I would like to know what this error is before that. Any help GREATLY appreciated.

Re: Source: 8 I/O

Hi,
One of your I/O device has failed. Trace with the Source ID or you can refer /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log file.

Re: Source: 8 I/O

Thanks you,
The log doesn't seem to have an entry for this. How do I trace the source id?

Re: Source: 8 I/O

To identify the problem, I recommend running stm, cstm, mstm or xstm and test the components of the system.

You may have a piece of hardware getting ready to break. You may also have an false alarm on something that won't break at all.

Re: Source: 8 I/O

Hi,

You can provide the GSP log in entirety. Something to do with your Serial device, probably your console/Remote console/UPS port.

Did you make any configuration changes in GSP or system prior to this error popping-up?

What is the system model? rp24xx or rp54xx?
You can also check if the PDC and GSP firmware are latest.
