I installed the HP spaceball 5000 driver (xdriver) and the spaceball works fine for root. But, non-root users can't see the spaceball icon on their desktop (CDE) nor does the spaceball work for them. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Re: Spaceball 5000
Its probably just file permissions.
Whereever this stuff is installed check permissions.
chmod a+rx and that should make the program work.
If there is some kind of database all users will need to write to it.
I don't want to know what spaceball is. To me, its a program for X.

Solution
Hi,
do you mean the auto-started 'SpaceMouse Motion Control Center'?
Then you have to edit this file:
/etc/dt/config/Xconfig
Uncomment his line:
Dtlogin*authorize: False
Then reboot or make a
'/sbin/init.d/dtlogin.rc reset'
That will work.
