Hi all,
I have the following setup:
- 2 disks, attached to a RAID controller p410i in an rx2800 i4 server
- those disks are used to created several RAID1 volumes on the controller
- one of those volumes is used for the vg00 of HP-UX 11.31
The question now is, is it possible to split the RAID1 mirror using the p410i controller. I can't find any directions in the manual on how to do this, and i'm looking for a better solution then to just pull out one disk if we want to test upgrades etc.
My last resort would be to create another virtual disk on the controller, and use that one as a DRD device for the OS. Not preffered though, since then every file, would be stored 4 times, on the same two disks.
Looking forward to hear about your experiences...

Re: Split RAID1 vg00 mirror on a p410i controller
The controller is in RAID mode. There are actually 8 disks attached to it, some are used for RAID5 volumes, only two are used for different RAID1 volumes.
Another question I have is regarding free space. I don't see any indication how many space is actaully in use on every disk.
Exact configuration is in attachment. Logical drive 1 is the vg00 OS disk.

Solutionhttp://kmcs-service.austin.hp.com/km-ext/kmcsdirect/emr_na-c00378986-8.pdf
check the man page for saconfig on your system.
So you can only use DRD as you already said.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Split RAID1 vg00 mirror on a p410i controller
Too bad they dont' include this for HP-UX. And even if they would, too bad that for all proposed scenario's the server should be brought down!
Hopefully we have some space left to create the DRD disk.
Thanks for your advice and that link Torsten, wasn't able to find that one up till now.
