What is the patching level of this system?

In particular do you have the following patches that are required by secure shell?

Funny thing.. today we have encountered a very similar issue overhere. And better yet: we've just fixed it.

With usePAM set to yes, we have set "ChallengeResponseAuthentication" to "no" and the problem was gone.

I thought I'd post this, it might just apply to someone else's situation.
