Re: start name sever daemon (fail)

i could be mistaken but i believe you're looking to start it perhaps from here:

/sbin/init.d/named start

Re: start name sever daemon (fail)

Hi,

Check the namesserver in /etc/resolv.conf
Check is named=1 in /etc/rc.config.d/namesvrs

verify the file /etc/nsswitch.conf

To restart the named daemon
sig_named restart

To start /stop named
/sbin/init.d/named stop
/sbin/init.d/named start

Hope this helps

Re: start name sever daemon (fail)

Shalom IT,

1) Verify that the software is installed.

/usr/init_d/named

Is not where the software depot from HP for this service would install.

It would install as /sbin/init.d/named

2) Verification step: swlist -l product | grep -i bind

3) If bind(named) is not installed it is a free download from http://software.hp.com
