Start SAM ERROR !

Hi !

I'm experimenting an intermittent problem when i launch de SAM utility on HPUX 11.11. This is the message:

# sam
Starting the terminal version of sam...

To move around in sam:

- use the "Tab" key to move between screen elements
- use the arrow keys to move within screen elements
- use "Ctrl-F" for context-sensitive help anywhere in sam

On screens with a menubar at the top like this:

------------------------------------------------------
|File View Options Actions Help|
| ---- ---- ------- ------------------------------- ---|

- use "Tab" to move from the list to the menubar
- use the arrow keys to move around
- use "Return" to pull down a menu or select a menu item
- use "Tab" to move from the menubar to the list without selecting a menu item
- use the spacebar to select an item in the list

On any screen, press "CTRL-K" for more information on how to use the keyboard.

Press "Return" to continue...
sam: FATAL ERROR: Unable to load library "/usr/obam/lib/libIDMawrt.1": Not enoug
h space

The strange is, that problem didn┬┤t appears before and works good sometimes when i launch the utility again (intermittent behavior). My kernel parameters are:

Re: Start SAM ERROR !

what is your sam cumulative patch level ? you can find it by:

swlist -l product | grep -i sam

it will show you something like this:

PHCO_28123 1.0 cumulative SAM patch

if your is not upto dat, it is advisable to download most uptodate version and install it.

Re: Start SAM ERROR !

Hi,

The message indicated is not enough space. Could you find out the utilization of some important system parameters at different intervals. Check nfile/nproc using glance if you have or use sar for this.

#sar -v 2 5

I assume that some of the parameter is allmost fully utilizaed which is causing this intermittent behaviour)

Hi,

Check this document (docID : 2200131595) about 'SAM: fatal error, Unable to load library... Not enough space' :

Re: Start SAM ERROR !

My problem continuos.

In some papers recommend that the value for shmmax parameter must be the same that the TOTAL of RAM, that's true ?.

In order to provide more information about this problem, i'm running over Sybase 12.5.2 for Database Manager.

Thank's in advance !!

Re: Start SAM ERROR !

Hi Ivan,

Probably you need to go throughly through the Sybase 12.5.2 documents/release notes to find out what all kernel parameters to be set and thier significance on resource utilization. Probably that shoudl solve your problem. It doesn't look like HPUX OS specific problem.

Regards,
You need to know a lot to actually know how little you know
