strange modum problem

I'm having a different problem with a modum on my R380 (running HPUX 11). When I try to dial -in the system picks up right away, however, I'm not getting a login prompt after it's connected. It's just a blank screen no matter how many times I hit enter. The getty is running, the port is valid, I'm using the same parity as for my K260 box. Anyone have an idea what's wrong?

Speed setting might not match what the getty has.

Re: strange modum problem

Greta,

You are not getting any garbage on the screen, right? It's just blank after the connect?
In case it is an internal modem the modem port can be locked.
Try CTRL-b to get to the CM> prompt. Type 'ur' for unlock remote
Afterwards you came back to the normal mode with a 'co' like console

In any other situations I would assume that the communication between the getty and modem is bad.
Check if the getty is really running and try to start a different getty.
Are you able to call out with the modem? This is a basic test to verify that the communication between the modem and the server is OK. If so, it must be the call-in device file or the getty
There is no good troubleshooting with bad data
