stty error rows=0; colums=0

Hello
I get errors in the vi-command when
rows=0; columns=0. On other boxes
rows and colums are set. And on one box not.
Where can I set these variables. (I use X-Window).
Thanks Ralf
Box: rx2620 with HPUX 11.23

Re: stty error rows=0; colums=0

Could You compare the values of $TERM and stty -a on a host where the settings are ok and the one where vi complains?

yesterday I stood at the edge. Today I'm one step ahead.

Re: stty error rows=0; colums=0

I think rowa means the variable LINES. Somehow, LINES and COLUMNS have been set to zero. That's not right and willnormally never happen unless someone has changed your login profiles. You can check LINES and COLUMNS after you login and if they = 0, track down where they were set in .profile or perhaps /etc/profile. To get going immediately, type this command:

eval $(ttytype -s)

and you can now run vi
