swinstall

Guys,

am i doing siomething stupid here.

I am trying to install some software from a remote depot.

I cann list the depots remotely and can see them but when I run swinstall -s servernam:/depot/path I keep getting the following
The tape you have chosen is a tape device. A tape device must be local to the system?

can anyone help please.

Re: swinstall

Well, where is your depot installed? On the filesystem or on tape?

I've seen this error before.

Re: swinstall

Select source Depot type as: Network Directory/CDROM because you selected it as
Local Tape.

Re: swinstall

or you can use this way.

swinstall -s servername:/depot/path/package.depot

you have to specify the name of the package to install which will invoke text mode gui and you can see the package and select it to install.

Re: swinstall

Guys, I have already done all of these, and swintsall insists I have chosent he tape when I have not. I have chosen network directory/cdrom.

I cheated a little bit and copied the depot over, registered them and installed them locally. The other bundles worked fine remotely.

thanks for your help

Re: swinstall

Seems we did not help to a solution level, however the appropriate way to say thanks is to assign points to the answers based on how helpful they are.

Currently you have 29 responses to your various questions and have not assigned points to any. This is contrary to the ettiquette guidelines of the community. I will happily accept 0 as the assignment level for my efforts.

:-)
