Re: swlist dumps core

/sbin/init.d/swagentd -r

or

/sbin/init.d/swagentd stop
/sbin/init.d/swagentd start

Then try again. swagent does not care for or need sam running.

swlist -i lets you go through things interactively.

If sam is also not working a quick fix might be to boot the remote box.

Prior to that, look for errors in dmesg output or /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log

who -r

See what run level the machine is actually at.

Re: swlist dumps core

Thanks Steven

But that doesnt help,I have bounced swagentd and even tried rebooting but still it gives the same error.sam gives nme the following
#sam
/usr/sbin/sam[220]: 4116 Bus error
Run level is 3.Any sw* command is giving the same error.

TIA

Re: swlist dumps core

Hi Siju,
What exactly you were installing from the remote Machine!! That could be the Answer.
Any Security Patch or Tools ?
Did that modified your inetd.conf file?

Just a thought!!

Re: swlist dumps core

Hi,

If you are able to do swverify then that may suggest what is the actual problem.

Re: swlist dumps core

Hi Siju,
Some checkPoints Again:

1. Check your Hostname
# hostname
Same is configured in /etc/hosts
2. Check your NIC config.
# ifconfig lan0 (or whatever you use)
3. Check name resolution
# telnet loopback
# telnet hostname
Should give you the login prompt.

Hope that helps.

Re: swlist dumps core

Hai,

If you have network problem means, the problem messages will be stored in syslog file.

Then log informations of sw* commands will be in /var/adm/sw/* location. check the sw*log on remote machines too.

By the way which machine's sw* commands are not working. Can you able to do in local or remote machine.

Check the initial trouble shooting of ping check, nslookup and ioscan if network failed.

Regards,
Muthukumar.
Easy to suggest when don't know about the problem!

Re: swlist dumps core

i think swlist uses libdce etc. but anyway as long as the swinstall is not complete i would guess it would not have changed the binaries on the system ? i dont know the answer but others may have some ideas based on this ...
