swlist warnings

After installing Java2 version 1.4.02.04 on hpux 11.0, swlist command returns lots of warnings. For example
WARNING: Ignoring duplicate definition for the keyword "size" at line
101985.
WARNING: Ignoring duplicate definition for the keyword "revision" at
line 101986.
Even uninstalling the product didnt make any improvements. I used the option "over write files" while swinstall.

Re: swlist warnings

Do you have a long hostname , i.e more than 8 character. It gives many times such error , for hostname morethan 8 ch.

Can you paste the # swlist -l bundle| grep -i java out put.

Cheers,
Raj.

Re: swlist warnings

Yes, there are multiple versions of java existing in the system.

Before installing the latest version, I moved the /opt/java1.4 folder and then did swinstall.

Attaching the o/p of swlist -l bundle |grep -i java command with this.

Thanks for the immediate responses

Re: swlist warnings

hmm, moving is not a good idea ...

When you want to install another version of java, you can specify a new location for the bundle in swinstall gui.

If you moved it, you broke the integrity of the instalaation system, so that's why you have these problems.

Try to bring the system back to the prvious state and install new version of java in another directory, I think it will solve the problem.

Re: swlist warnings

Hi

The problem might be caused by the 'move' which u used to move the existing product. Unix is quite different from other OS as just moving the location will not give the desired effect. What u did is something like compressing a file which is being accessed by some process.

Re: swlist warnings

I think you have corrupted the installed product database by moving files back and forth. Right now it is in limbo. There is a procedure to bring it back to a stable state but I can not locate it. I am sure someone will.

Re: swlist warnings

Vaman,

Reinstall and then uninstall using swremove. If it does not work, it's just a warning.
