I have two systems that I need to keep their password files in sync. Right now I have the passwd file and the group file being copied over from the Production machine to the Stand by machine.
Can I do the same thing with the shadow password files when I implement this product?

Solution
Yes, that will work. This is rather Mickey Mouse when compared to the "right" way to this (e.g. LDAP) but your approach will work even if using a trusted system. You might look into using rdist to sync the files.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: Sync'ing Shadow Passwords
In that case you will have to copy /etc/shadow and /etc/gshadow too.
