system accounting problem

Hi,

the system utilization is 100% for around a week but from the daily system accounting report, /var/adm/acct/sum/rprt*, I found that the total "CPU (MINS)" has no big difference compare with normal usage.

any idea on the relation in between the "CPU (MINS)" in accounting and the %idle in sar/top/vmstat??

I expected they are reverse porportion but it is not...!

THANKS.
Warren.

Re: system accounting problem

Shalom,

Tough one, pointing out perhaps to a bug in the tool you are using to measure system performance.

What tool are you using? Consider patching it.

Re: system accounting problem

HI SEP,

just the basic accounting and system monitoring util come from the OS, e.g. ckpacct, runacct, monacct, sar and top.

THX,
Warren.
