Is it possible (safe) to run make_tape_recovery on server X (which doesnt have peripherals) but "download" the data to tape/drive that is attached to another server ?

Re: system administration

possible, with piping output......but better then that, install Ignite Server and do a make_net_recovery instead....

Re: system administration

No, Ignite only works with local tape drives. You be able to do a make_net_recovery to the other server and then offload the archive to the tape.

Sorry - correction:

No, Ignite only works with local tape drives. You might be able to do a make_net_recovery to the other server and then offload the archive to the tape.

Re: system administration

Hi frederick,

The answer is you can not. You can do a make_net_recovery to an other server, but not to a tape device connected to an other server.

Check:

You are not the first with this question.
