Re: system clock falling behind xntp server clock
Check syslog for ntp messages that might indicate what the problem is:
grep -i ntp /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log

Re: system clock falling behind xntp server clock
Both working and non-working systems.
You may get an error to act on.
Otherwise I'd say looking for a hardware fault is the way to go.
Consider using cstm mstm or the graphically X window xstm to run hardware diagnostics.

Re: system clock falling behind xntp server clock
Has it started drifting all of a sudden or you have configured ntp and found it not matching or it is a new server ? If it is a new server then possiblly a hardware issue as we also had a similar problem in a new server last week and we were to replace the backplane board of our rp7410 server. Which model it is ?
Hope this helps,
Devender

You can also check wheather GSP/MP time is also drifting or not. In our case only OS time was drifting whereas MP time was accurate.
Hope this helps,
