System Hangs

Re: System Hangs

below is what is interesting to me

SOURCE: 8 = I/O
SOURCE DETAIL: 2 = system bus adapter SOURCE ID: 1C
PROBLEM DETAIL: 3 = function failure

Did you check the system CPU/MEM/SWAP/NETWORK utilization at the time the system was crashed.(Perfview/pv is good tool).

what is reported in /etc/shutdownlog.Take a close look on OLDsyslog.log

I would say do a "savecrah -vr DIR" and create the crash dump and at the first check the details in INDEX file.Do a Q 4 analysis and that will help to determine if it is h/w or s/w issue.

what is the OS version?is it part of any cluster?

Re: System Hangs

can i guess you have 8GB of physical mem?
send the output of "kmtune|grep -i chunk".

you should process the PV analysis/Q4 as i mentioned earlier and update when you have ready.

The whathappened script is not actively maintained by WTEC anymore.
We have decided to go for one first passing tool, which is "crashinfo".
crashinfo is available in this dump reading package and should be used instead
of whathappend. Besides the default ascii output, be sure to try the html
(-H option). The -e option allows to specify a email address to get the output
sent to.
