Re: system hour

Hi Gerald,

For France, your /etc/TIMEZONE file should contain:

TZ=MET-1METDST
export TZ

Re: system hour

Hi,

You need the same Timezone as mine

# cd /etc
# ls -la TIMEZONE
-r--r--r-- 1 bin bin 25 May 19 2000 TIMEZONE
# cat TIMEZONE
TZ=MET-1METDST
export TZ

Re: system hour

Your English is better than mine.

Good luck with your HP-UX box. This is a great place to get an answer.

Re: system hour

timezones in HP-UX are handled by interpreting GMT (UTC or Zulu time) which is the only time that HP-UX has. In other words, HP-UX keeps GMT internally and every application and user 'sees' that time translated by the TZ environment variable (or for some daemons, the kernel parameters timezone and dst will take effect. What is important to understand is that the time of day never 'jumps' in the kernel...it is always UTC with no daylight saving changes. The interpreter (tztab) takes care of this translation.

The good news is that every user that logs into an HP-UX system can have their local time shown for everything (date, ll commands, etc) by simply setting TZ to the local time setting. /usr/lib/tztab is the file used to perform the translation. So a user in Montreal and Paris and Singapore could all see their local time.
