Re: System log tools

Hi,

Think perfview will do for you, take a look at next page for more information.

Re: System log tools

Hi,

Unless you buy a product you are going to have to write scripts to do it for you.

The type of application you require sounds like Perfview. Contact your local HP rep for a quote.

Hi,

Check this:

You can find info about Big Brother ( free tool ), it looks great, maybe you can find it usefull. Look for the replies of W.C. Epperson at the end of the thread.

Re: System log tools

Since this is going to be for your boss as well, now could be a good time to get him to get funding for some HP OpenView products. There are many modules, and you can pick just what you need.

They could be extreemly useful for you, and can provide pretty reports for others.

Re: System log tools

An alternative to PerfView is SarCheck, a tool that runs on a number of different Unix platforms. Unlike Glance/MeasureWare and Perfview, it adds knowledge-based comments based on the numbers that are logged and creates a report (or a web page) with recommendations. See http://www.sarcheck.com

Re: System log tools

You can use perfview measureware. Or you can use built in commands like sar, iostat, vmstat
IT is great!
