tape checkpoint error

Hi,

I am taking backup of HP-UX 10.20 C3000 W/s on a dds3 tape drive with dds-3 tape in it. but when i use the fbackup utility for backup i found that the only couple of file backedup in the tape and the error message come on hpterm that the tape checkpoint error. although the tape i am using is used only once.

Any help on this matter is highly appreciated.
Thanks,

Re: tape checkpoint error

Run the following command:

dmesg

If you get errors that relate to your tape drive you are probably going to need to replace it.

ioscan -fnC tape

Will show you the scsi status of the drive.

You accidently posted in Linux, I'm going to post a request to pull this over to HP-UX where there are more bodies to help you anyway.
