tape device

Is there a way to get information about a tape device without physically looking at the system? I have a remote system that I have never seen with a tape device giving me some errors and I want to look in the KB for troubleshooting info, but I don't know the model. If there is a method in SAM, what is the corresponding command line method?

Thanks.

Re: tape device

If you do an ioscan -fnCtape, the description in the output will tell you what model of tape drive you are working with. Ex DLT4000, DLT7000, etc...

Re: tape device

ioscan -fnC tape

will give you details about the tape drives on a system.

You can also use:

mt -f /dev/rmt/0m status
