in my systems running 11i tapeinfo run without ask me for a licenze.
#which tapeinfo
/usr/sbin/tapeinfo
#/usr/sbin/tapeinfo /dev/rmt/0m

Cheryl - there is only 1 tapeinfo binary on all our servers and its the one asking for a license;
Sup-Tool-Mgr.STM-UI-RUN: /usr/sbin/tapeinfo

There is more than one tapeinfo command.
* The STM version does require a license. Should you need to install this license, contact Contracts to see if it is part of your support agreement; HW Support can assist in installing it.
*The HP internal tool does not require a license. This is a tool that may have been sent out by a HP Support person upon request.
