tapeinfo command

Hi

#tapeinfo /dev/rmt/0m
#There is not a license currently installed.
Do you wish to install a HP-Only support license? (y/n)

How to get it work?

Thanks
Animesh
Did you take a backup?

Re: tapeinfo command

It appears to be an HP engineer tool - not for normal public use. Only an engineer has access to the current HP-only support license. Even if you logged a call with the RC I doubt they would give you the current HP-only support license over the phone.

Re: tapeinfo command

Answer n to the prompt. There is an internal HP tool that we send out that does not require a license. See if there is more than one tapeinfo command on your system. More than likely you are calling one that does require a license.

See if this helps:
# swlist -l file |grep tapeinfo
# whence tapeinfo
# whereis tapeinfo

Re: tapeinfo command

#which tapeinfo
/usr/sbin/tapeinfo
#/usr/sbin/tapeinfo /dev/rmt/0m

*-----------------------------------------------------*
* This command may take up to several minutes to run. *
* No other tools or processes can be running on the *
* device while this tool is running. Exit out of any *
* STM tool which maybe currently running on this *
* device before continuing. *
*-----------------------------------------------------*

Do you wish to continue? (y/n) n

Re: tapeinfo command

Enrico, you need to go one more step;

*-----------------------------------------------------*
* This command may take up to several minutes to run. *

* STM tool which maybe currently running on this *

Do you wish to continue? (y/n) y

Sup-Tool-Mgr.STM-UI-RUN: /usr/sbin/tapeinfo

Re: tapeinfo command

Maybe I was not clear on my original post.

There is more than one tapeinfo command.
* The STM version does require a license. Should you need to install this license, contact Contracts to see if it is part of your support agreement; HW Support can assist in installing it.

*The HP internal tool does not require a license. This is a tool that may have been sent out by a HP Support person upon request.
