Tar Backup Utility
Hi All,
Can anybody tell me that whether tar backup supports total size of tar file more than 2 GB and its properly restorable or not.
One more thing, please confirm the 2 Gb size is of file to be backed up or the total size of the tar backup.

Re: Tar Backup Utility
Hi Arun
There is patch available to make it upto 8GB.
Once you apply patch that tapes cannot restored using unpatched tar!! If you are patching, patch all the systems.
For hp-ux 11.11

Thanks & Regards
Ramesh

Which "tar"? As usual, some information
like your OS version might be interesting.
A Forum search for things like:
hp-ux tar 2gb 8gb
would lead to previous threads like:

Some of each, probably, but mostly the files
to be archived. (Assuming that the archive
destination supports large files, of course.)
